Weight – Make sure you lift up the vacuum that you are considering purchasing. While weight may not seem like a big deal, if you are wandering around the house and spot cleaning, it can become heavy after just a short while.

Capacity – How much can the vacuum hold before it needs to be emptied? You want to make sure it is going to at least be able to finish the job you want it for, because having to empty it halfway through will simply lengthen your cleaning time.

Warranty – As with any electronics, you want to know what kind of warranty the manufacturer offers. You can either ask the sales clerk, or find out through the manufacturer’s website, but it is an important thing to consider.  Very good warranties are standard with the best hand held vacuum cleaners.

Features – Do you want your hand held to have certain features like a wet/dry function or maybe a function to steam your carpet or drapes? Are there special brushes you require for certain tasks?

As with many purchases, compare prices before deciding on which hand held vacuum cleaner to buy; the internet is always a great place to do this. Be sure to do some comparison shopping before you go out to the mall, but you will want to check it out in person before committing. Something may look great on the screen but may not be as functional when you actually see it.

By taking note of all these different specs that you would want when researching hand held vacuum cleaners ahead of time, you will be able to greatly increase the chances of coming home with a vacuum that you will not have to bring back to the store.
